Dear Diary comes from Sepideh Mehraban’s ‘Story’ body of work from 2012. With that series, she turned her focus towards the idea of the global village and how connections can be fostered across geography and time to form what the artist calls ‘hybrid narratives of human experience’. Through paint, she hints at photographs, internal landscapes, and intentionally obscure textual elements to encourage the viewer to draw from their associations and recollections; storytelling through empathetic connection.
