SPOTLIGHTING OUR PEOPLE | Hlengiwe Hadebe

We sat down with Digital & Content Strategist, Hlengiwe Hadebe for a quick Q&A session on everything career chats, theme songs, inventions and more. Hlengiwe plays an integral role across the Standard Bank and Rise Mzansi portfolios.

Q: WHAT ARE YOU MOST PROUD OF IN YOUR CAREER SO FAR?

A: I'm proud of how I've embraced opportunities and earned trust despite being relatively new in the industry. It’s fulfilling to reflect on how I’ve handled responsibilities with grace and kindness.

Q: WHAT IS ONE THING THAT PEOPLE DON’T KNOW ABOUT YOU?

A: I love dropping the fact that I was born on a leap year. I like to think of it as my secret superpower of aging at a different pace. It also adds a fascinating twist to my story. Plus It's always amusing to see people try to figure out my actual age.

Q: WHAT IS ARE THREE POINTS OF INTEREST OUTSIDE OF WORK?

A: Exploring fashion & photography: my journey as an undercover stylist and fashionista. The best thing about my hobby at this phase of my life is putting together lewks without the pressure or the hustle of turning into a paying gig. My reward comes from seeing people exude confidence and loving how I’ve helped them reimagine themselves through fire fits.

Q: WHAT IS SOMETHING YOU WOULD LIKE TO INVENT?

A: I’d defs love to have invented the teleportation machine. Imagine being able to transform how we explore, connect and experience the world?

Q: WHAT’S YOUR THEME SONG?

A: [Fellas] in Paris:It ignites a winning energy within me and it serves as a powerful reminder ofthe blessings and privilege of being alive and thriving in the present moment.

Q: IF YOU WEREN’T IN ADVERTISING, WHERE WOULD YOU BE?

A: If advertising wasn't in my path, I've often imagined myself in a few diverse roles: a teacher (with a far-fetched dream of even becoming the minister of basic education), a farmer, a carpenter, or an interior designer.

Q: WHAT’S SOMETHING YOU CANNOT LIVE WITHOUT?

A:  My glasses: Once I realised I wasn’t seeing the world in HD, I can’t imagine going back to seeing with my ghetto eyesight.

Q: WHICH ONE OF OUR VALUES RESONATE WITH YOU THE MOST AND WHY?

A: CONSIDERED. Like slow brewed coffee, it speaks to the depth of thought, the craft and care that goes into how I approach my work and the way I live. More than that, it speaks to essence of being present.
